Founded in Coventry in 1903, Reg Maudslay's Standard Motor Company had modest beginnings but by the 1920s had built a reputation for keenly priced, well-built, reliable and comfortable cars. In production from 1923 until 1927, the Standard V3 had a very interesting 11.4hp four-cylinder engine with exposed overhead valves and push-rods.
This particular V3 Roadster is car number 58450 and was exported new to Australia. It has only recently returned to the UK where it will need registering through the DVLA who will issue it with an age-related registration after completion of a V55/5 form. All duties have been paid for it to enter the EC and a receipt for this is with the car.
The vendor states that: "This car is very good cosmetically with excellent paint and trim and full weather equipment. Inspected recently by the president of the Vintage Standard Register, it is now added to the 100 or so pre-1930 Standards within the club. The engine is very interesting and it runs well. It has the typical vintage Standard radiator with its Union Jack badge and gilled tube construction. It will need some gentle recommissioning as it has been laid up for the past couple of years. In vintage terms the Standard would be a competitor to the small Humber and Talbot cars. Overall it would make a refreshing addition to the ranks of the VSCC Light Car Section for its events."
