The sale usually includes between 300 and 400 lots of traditional sporting items. Fishing, hunting, shooting, racing and many other field sports are often represented. Unusual past times are also included such as cock fighting, badger and bear baiting and taxidermy.
Single collections spanning years of a family involvement in the local hunt often proves to attract huge amounts of interest. Recently, a number of items relating to otter hunting were consigned by a well known Herefordshire family, selling very well, the story was covered by a number of newspapers.
Militaria makes up the second part of the sale and often includes a number of medals and swords, some of which have been lying forgotten in an attic for a number of years. Other weapons, uniforms, campaign furniture and literature from past centuries are also included.
Our catalogues are posted on three separate areas of the internet and attract an international audience of specialist collectors, dealers and private buyers with a need to buy something curious from this country’s sporting past or military history.
