How to enter
Entry forms

Commission
Vendors will be charged a standard commission of 5% + VAT on sold lots. In addition, a 0.75% plus VAT TBA
levy will be deducted from sale proceeds. Proceeds of the sale less deductions are normally forwarded to vendors 28 days after the sale.
Reserves
Unless written instructions are lodged with the auctioneers, lots will be sold without reserve.
Private sales
All private sales made on the sale day must be booked through the auctioneers.
Pass-outs
No lots will be allowed to leave the racecourse stables until a pass has been obtained from the sales office.
Veterinary procedure
All horses are sold subject to veterinary re-examination as per condition 8, sold as they stand as per condition 9, or sold subject to veterinary re-examination of wind only as per condition 10.
If a horse is sold subject to veterinary examination or veterinary re-examination of wind only, then the purchaser must request that the horse be examined by the veterinary panel on the day of sale. This examination is £150.00 including VAT.
Purchasers must notify the office that they require examination within 1 hour of the time of purchase.
If the purchaser fails to take advantage of the sale day veterinary examination then they cannot thereafter make complaint of matters, which would have been covered by the sale day veterinary examination.
Horse passports
Passports must travel to the sale with the entry and will be surrendered to the auctioneers on arrival at the stable office. This passport will be given to the new purchaser or returned to the vendor if not sold.
Vaccinations
All horses attending the sale must be fully vaccinated against equine influenza in accordance with
jockey club requirements.
Delivery and stabling
All lots will have stabling available from 2.00pm until gates close at 10.00pm on the day prior to sale and from 7.00am on the day of sale. Bedding is provided, however, vendors must provide water buckets, mangers and all fodder. We regret stabling is not available for horses not entered in this sale.
How to buy
Catalogues
Catalogues will be available approximately 10 days prior to the sale. If you would like to apply for one please send £8 (cheques payable to Brightwells) to Brightwells, Horse & Pony Dept., Easters Court, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 0DE. Alternatively, payment can be made through our website with a credit or debit card. Annual catalogue subscriptions are available, please contact the office for further details.
Viewing of sale lots
The racecourse stables will open to the public from 7.30am on the day of sale.
Payment
Payment must be made by CASH, CARD OR CHEQUE on the day of sale. (Cheques will only be accepted from regular clients and those who provide a current
banker's reference).
For those paying by credit card (other than debit and switch cards) a 3% (plus VAT)
banker's charge will be added to all purchasers' accounts.
Horses will be sold in pounds (£) sterling. In addition, a 6% (plus VAT) buyer's
premium will be added to all purchaser's accounts. If the entry is marked VAT then a further 20% will be added to the hammer price.
In addition, a £15 inclusive of VAT indemnity fee will be added to the purchaser's account on each horse purchased.
Commission
Should any prospective purchaser be unable to attend the sale, the auctioneers will personally be pleased to execute Commissions on their behalf, at no extra charge, lots being obtained as cheaply as other bids allow. In this instance, irrevocable methods of payment must be in place before commission instructions are enacted.

If the horse is sold as it stands, then no veterinary warranty is implied or given and the purchaser is to rely upon their own judgement in relation to a horse's soundness and fitness for the purpose they are purchasing it for.
Private sales
All private sales made on the sale day must be booked through the auctioneers.
Clearance
All horses must be removed from the racecourse stables by 8pm on the day of sale.
Transporters
Licensed transporters are normally in attendance to remove lots on behalf of purchasers.
Insurance
Insurance of purchases may be arranged through the auctioneer’s office on the day of sale.
