By Selection
The Stars of the Future August Sale will select approximately 30 British Bred Foals for the Evening Auction. Application forms are available from the auctioneers during office hours, Tel: 01568 619777 or email diane.kennett@brightwells.com.
The following details will be required when sending back your application:-
- A completed application form.
- Copy of the sires and dams papers
- Photographs of the Foal
- DVD of the Foal showing movement
Entry Form
Once accepted an Entry Form(s) will be forwarded to you, these must be completed in full and return by the stated date on the form and must be accompanied by a cheque for the entry fee.
Entry Fee into the sale is £250 plus VAT
Minimum Bid of £1,000
Reserves
Vendors may sell their Lots with a Reserve Price, if the Lot is not sold there will be a 2% plus VAT commission charge on the Reserve Price. Reserves need to be discussed with the Auctioneers.
Sold Without Reserve
Vendors may sell their Foals Without Reserve, if they buy their own foal back there will be a Buy Back Commission charge of 1% plus VAT of the hammer price payable to the auctioneers.
Vendors Commission
A commission of 5% plus VAT on all sold Lots of the hammer price is payable to the Auctioneers and will be deducted from the sale price. This will usually be deducted from the proceeds of sale.
Foals when sold
Foals are offered for sale along side mothers in the August Sale and if sold will return with the seller who will agree a time of collection after weaning with the purchaser. We recommend all purchases are insured on the evening of the sale for the duration of time until the foal is collected by the purchaser.
Private Sales
All Private Sales made on the Sale day must be booked through the Auctioneers.
Pass-Out
No Lot will be allowed to leave the sale complex until a Pass has been obtained from the Sales Office. In the event of Lot Number Labels missing from the lots, these animals will not be allowed to leave until identified to the satisfaction of the Auctioneers Representative.
Vetting of Horses
All horses have two Full Five Stage Vetting’s for acceptance into the Auction:
- The First Vetting has been carried out within 28 days prior to the Auction.
- The Second Vetting takes place whilst stabled at the Auction Centre.
- Blood will also be taken from all Auction Horses.
All colts and stallions imported into the UK must have a certificate proving the horse is EVA Negative before being accepted for the Auction.
X Rays
All horses undergo X Ray examinations to set criteria according to the conditions of sale. The X Rays are assessed by Marc Auerbach of Oak Equine, before acceptance into the sale.

Sale Content
The sale comprises of 3, 4 & 5 year old Dressage Horses, all must be produced and under saddle for the Auction. All horses sold at the Auction are eligible to compete in the £10,000 DHI Dressage Challenge at the November Sale.
Location
The sales are conducted at Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckingham.
