How to Buy
Catalogues
Catalogues will be available about 10 days prior to the Sale. If you would like to apply for one please send £5 (cheques payable to Brightwells) to Brightwells, Horse & Pony Dept., Easters Court, Leominster, Herefordshire HR6 0DE. Alternatively payment can be made through our website with a credit or debit card. Annual catalogue subscriptions are available, please contact the office for further details.
Purchaser Registration
Prospective Purchasers will be required to pre-register at the Sales Office and will be given a buyers number. You will be asked for a form of identification that proves your present name and address such as a driving licence or a recent utility bill.
Viewing of Sale Lots
The showground will open to the public from 8.30am on the day of sale. Horses and ponies will show their paces and ability in the trial areas up until sale time. Prospective purchasers are advised to discuss matters and arrange trial rides with the vendors during this time.
Payment
Payment must be made by CASH, CARD OR CHEQUE on day of Sale. (Cheques will only be accepted from regular clients and those who provide a current Bankers Reference).
For those paying by Credit Card (other than debit and switch cards) a 3% (plus VAT) Bankers Charge will be added to all purchasers accounts. Horses and ponies will be sold in Pounds (£) Sterling, in addition a 6% (plus VAT) Buyers Premium will be added to all purchaser’s accounts. If the entry is marked VAT then a further 20% will be added to the hammer price.
Commissions
Should any Prospective Purchaser be unable to attend the Sale, the Auctioneers will personally be pleased to execute Commissions on their behalf, at no extra charge, lots being obtained as cheaply as other bids allow. In this instance irrevocable methods of payment must be in place before commission instructions are enacted.
Veterinary Procedure
All horses and ponies are sold subject to veterinary examination on the day of sale unless sold for £700 or less, when they are sold as they stand with no veterinary warranty.
Veterinary Surgeons appointed by the Auctioneers are available through the Auctioneers Office to examine horses on behalf of Vendors and Purchasers. In the case of Purchasers, they are prepared to examine horses on their behalf as to whether they are correct under the Conditions of Sale. The Veterinary Surgeon’s decision that a horse be returnable is binding on both parties. All horses should be vetted for eyes, heart, action, age and ascertainment of catalogue descriptions for a fee of £150.00 including VAT.
Purchasers must notify the office that they require examination within 1 hour of the time of purchase.
If the purchaser fails to take advantage of the sale day veterinary examination then they cannot thereafter make complaint of matters, which would have been covered by a the sale day veterinary examination.
Private Sales
All Private Sales made on the Sale Day must be booked through the Auctioneers.
Clearance
All horses and ponies must be removed from the sale ground by 6pm on their day of sale.
Transporters
Licensed transporters are normally in attendance to remove lots on behalf of purchasers.
Insurance
Insurance of purchases may be arranged through the auctioneer’s office on the day of sale.
