Some frequently asked questions:
Q1. Do you get a warranty with the vehicles?
Vehicles are usually offered either “As Seen” which means that you buy it as you
see it, or “No Major Mechanical Faults” which entitles the purchaser up until 1
hour after the auction has finished to test the vehicle for any undeclared major
mechanical faults (electrical faults are not included).
Q2. How do I pay for the vehicle I purchased?
When you come to one of our vehicle sales, you need to register before bidding and
bring photographic proof of ID (i.e. your driving license with photo on). We require
a deposit of £500 as a deposit when registering – the full balance is payable on
the day of sale.
We accept cash (up to £9,000 limit), most credit and debit cards (Not American Express),
Bankers Drafts and Building Society cheques (drafts and Society cheques should be
signed by the issuing clerk on the reverse, together with their telephone number).
Q3. What age range and variety of vehicles are on offer?
All types - our 4x4 auction is the largest dedicated 4x4 Auction in Europe . You
can see everything from a WWII Willis Jeep to a delivery mileage Double Cab Pick
Up. The most widely offered marque on view is Land Rover, which includes Discoverys,
Range Rovers, Freelanders and Defenders. Many other marques are offer, from Daihatsu,
Nissan and Mitsubishi, to Isuzu, Toyota and Chrysler Jeep.
The Car & Commercial auction can be just as varied – a lot of the vendors in this
Sale are also our 4x4 vendors, so you may see anything from a leasing company van
to a repossessed Lexus.
The Motorbike auction attracts off roaders, road bikes and quads. Ages and condition
vary, but there are some real bargains to be had at this sale.
Q4. Where do the vehicles at auction come from?
Vehicles are offered on behalf of a number of different types of customer. The main
sources of which are large retail groups such as Pendragon, Inchcape, Sytner and
Lookers, franchised main dealers, independent traders, financial and public sector
institutions, fleet companies, hire companies and members of the general public.

Q6. How much does it cost to enter a car?
We have different rates for Four Wheel Drives, Cars & Commercials. The commission
is also dependent on the value of the vehicle, so please call us to discuss what
the vehicle may be worth at auction and we will then confirm the rates to you for
the vehicle.
Q7. What is Indemnity and how much does it cost?
All purchasers are required to pay a fee under the Brightwells Indemnity Scheme
in addition to the purchase price of each lot.
The purpose of the scheme is to insure buyers that they will receive full title
for the vehicle, i.e. that if in the unlikely event it transpires that a vehicle
had been stolen, sustained serious damage or is subject to a hidden financial interest
and was not described as such, the buyer is able to claim against the Indemnity
Fund. Indemnity fees start at £50 + VAT and are scaled in accordance with the purchase
price. For further information on this please contact the auctioneers.
