The Team

Richard Binnersley NEW

Richard Binnersley

Joint Managing Director, BSc Hons (AgricEcon)

Richard joined Brightwells from University in 1992, originally employed in the team that was establishing and developing our 4x4 Auction Business. After promotion to Auctioneer and then Associate a couple of years later, Richard later became General Manager of the Vehicle Department in 2001. In 2007, he joined the Board of Directors, with a responsibility of reporting in marketing and IT. In January 2014, he became Joint Managing Director.

James Dennison New

James Dennison

Classic & Vintage Auction Consultant

A lifelong classic car fanatic, James joined us in 2006 & has owned over 80 classics to date, his current stable including a 1961 Lancia Flaminia GT, a 1972 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Saloon and a constantly rotating stock of Porsche 928s to which he admits a guilty addiction. Currently struggling to contain an obsession to own a Maserati 3500GT, he is always hurling money at ill-advised restoration projects which only put his dreams of Maserati ownership further beyond reach with every passing day.

Matthew joins us following a series of senior roles at Alfa Romeo, Volvo and as a Director of the Morgan Motor Company. An enthusiastic competitor at VSCC events for many years, he has an eclectic collection of some fourteen cars, from a 1921 Vauxhall 30/98 to a 1966 MGB GT. Eleven of these are currently on the road – its probably enough he says.

James Clay

Classic & Vintage Auction Consultant - The South of England

James joins us after dedicating the last 29 years to his role as Commercial Manager at Mithril Racing based at Goodwood Race Circuit – he reckons he has driven over 120,000 laps over the years! Growing up around US Army bases in Europe in the ‘70s, he became obsessed with big American cars – full size of course and went on to study Automotive Design at the Royal College of Art in London. He is both enthusiastic and knowledgeable about anything with wheels, wings and a bit of age.

Stewart Rich

Classic & Vintage Auction Consultant

A retired international sidecar racer and now intrepid competitor in VSCC events, Stewart brings a wealth of knowledge on both pre-and post-war machinery. Many of you already know him as the recently retired VSCC Light Car Competition Secretary. If you were wondering what he was going to do with all that spare time – well now you know! Welcome on board Stewart.

Phil Ingle.JPG

Phil Ingle

Classic & Vintage Auction Consultant

Yet another racer joins the team, and one with racing experience on two and four wheels. If running a Lotus 20/22 in the Historic Formula Junior Championship wasn’t exciting enough, the Rob North BSA Triple with the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club certainly was – with numerous podium finishes to his credit. Not just a safe pair of hands on the track, Phil has a wealth of knowledge on cars from all eras and clearly demonstrates the icy nerve that it takes to be a consignor at Brightwells.
