Despite the sweltering temperatures results for the sale overall were good. The specialist militaria section contained a fine selection of over forty antique firearms, which attracted a great deal of interest, with a good number of buyers attending the sale and leaving commission bids.
£35 bottle of whisky sells for £1,750 at Brightwells.
A couple from the Welsh borders admitted to being ‘gobsmacked’ as they watched their £35 purchase from the 1990s achieve £1,750 at Brightwells’ recent auction of Fine Wine and Whisky. A superb private collection of French wine forms the centerpiece of Brightwells’ upcoming auction of Wine, Port and Spirits. The sale will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday 24th May.

A collector of fine wine from Cumbria sold his entire collection for over £24,000 at Brightwells’ latest wine sale.
A Herefordshire couple were stunned to discover that their neighbour had left them a wine collection worth over £10,000 in his will.
Brightwells are delighted to be chosen to offer at their Spring Fine Art auction, held on 22/23rd March, the Sam Kenrick collection of Asian Art, which has been painstakingly assembled over the course of his lifetime.
DIAMONDS SPARKLE IN THE NEW YEAR
The strong jewellery section saw the highest price of the day, when a private buyer parted with £5,000 to secure lot 83, a stunning Art Deco style diamond bracelet.
The last sale of 2016 had some interesting items consigned, particularly in the Tribal Art section. Most notably a pair of Anglo-Indian blackwood demilune Console Tables, sourced by our South Wales area valuer Philip Keith. Highly decorative, the pair were fiercely contested for by a telephone and internet bidder, finally selling for considerably over estimate at £2,000.
Strong trade on Bordeaux, Vintage Port and Malt Whisky at Brightwells’ pre-Christmas Wine Sale.
An excellent catalogue including first growth Bordeaux, Vintage Port and rare Malt Whisky was offered at Brightwell’s Wine Sale on 30th November.
