Description
1966 MGB Roadster Mk1
A great early Roadster
project; wires; overdrive; most metalwork supplied; new mohair hood; solid basis
for straightforward restoration; highly original and unmolested; running and
driving within the last 12 months
OK, so you won't be able to drive
it home, but this is an unusual opportunity to get stuck into a straightforward
restoration of a straightforward car.
Unmolested MGBs are few and far
between these days, particularly early three-synchro Roadsters like this one.
Complete as far as we can see, it has been in storage for some time, although
the vendor had it running well enough to drive onto his trailer about a year ago
when he acquired it. We are advised that since then, the fuel pump has retired
so he wasn't able to drive it onto the trailer to bring it in to us and is only
selling it as he hasn't got the time to do the car justice.
First
registered on 4th July 1966, this Mk1 has the fine details lost to later models
including narrow tunnel, large steering wheel and nicer switchgear. It sits on
silver painted wire wheels, has an untested overdrive and decent fit on the
doors.
It is rusty though, in the usual MGB places, a previous owner
assembling some of the panel work required to solve that. Included are
original wing repair panels, a valance, a new brake disc and an as yet, unfitted
mohair hood - the frame and vinyl tonneau are sitting in the car.
The
floors will need replacing, along with the usual sill areas, but it holds great
potential and is the right year/model of MGB to begin with. One not to be missed
and with some commitment and determination, could be out by the time lockdown
ends...
