1985 Porsche 924
Ideal starter classic Porsche
from long term ownership; 2.0 litre 5-speed showing just 52,296 miles with 22
old MOTs and 31 service stamps
Dating from
August 1985 this tidy and low mileage Porsche 924 shows just 52,296 miles which
look to be genuine, and therefore uncommonly low mileage for its age.
Finished in Guards Red and sitting upon a set of polished face 15inch
alloy wheels the car looks well. With our vendor since August 2015, he has
cosseted the car during his tenure and kept it in a stock state. The paintwork
although bright has suffered some fade in places as pictured but is largely
presentable.
Under the bonnet, we find the VW/Audi/Porsche collaboration
2.0 litre four-cylinder engine (with Porsche designed cylinder head) which
develops 123bhp driving the rear wheels via 5-speed manual transmission with a
conventional H-pattern ‘box.
Inside, we find half-leatherette/cloth
interior with manual adjustment, sun-roof, electric windows, electric mirrors,
headlamp washer jets and original radio – a charming place to be with small rear
seats for children or unlucky adults and usefully sized hatch back boot with
spare wheel.
The history file includes the V5C showing 5 former keepers,
the owner’s pack and service book revealing it to have been supplied by Swinford
Motors Porsche dealer of the West Midlands. The book contains an impressive 31
service stamps, 18 of which were by Porsche main dealers, the rest by
independents. The last service stamp is undated with no mileage (as with the
last 11 oddly) by Central Garage of Hereford. In addition, we find 5 further
stamps for brake fluid changes.
The file also includes a Top Gear ‘top
drives’ book for planning epic trips, period sales brochure, Octane mag
featuring the 924, 22 old MOTs dating back to 1993 at 25,554 miles up to the
current, valid until February 2022 at 52,241 miles which recorded just 1
advisory for corrosion to a brake pipe/covered in grease/other material. An
additional file of invoices for routine maintenance, parts and correspondence
dating back to 1988 at which time the mileage was recorded at 19,140
miles.
Ready to be enjoyed this low mileage example must surely tick many
boxes for any budding classic car enthusiast offering ample performance and
lower running costs with the cachet of the Porsche badge on the
bonnet.
