1970 Triumph TR6
No Reserve
Freshly
restored former US car; solid car when stripped down requiring very few repairs;
ready to be enjoyed
Earlier former U.S spec TR6
with CC chassis and engine designation (although V5 says 1970, its likely to be
a ‘68/69 model car), it has been freshly restored and finished in bright red,
sitting upon centre-lock wire wheels with a replacement black hood – boxed
and not fitted.
The car has been extensively
restored by our vendor, a retired panel beater from the Welsh borders, he
tells us the car was uncommonly rust- free needing very little in the way of
repairs with some photos of the work on file.
Under the bonnet, we find the early carb 2.5-litre straight six,
which as a former US example may be the earlier 104bhp unit with lower
compression to meet emissions restrictions. The vendor informs us that he
rebuilt the engine with new piston rings, main and big-end shells and the valves
have been reground. He advises that it is still on running-in oil which will
need to be changed within the next 100 or so. There are however no invoices to
support this work.
Starting promptly and
running well as we moved it around for these images and video the car looks
well, and is certainly very shiny. We did note a mark as pictured in front of
the windscreen and the interior looks to have been refreshed with black vinyl
spray and of course it’s been converted to right hand drive.
He purchased the car in the UK as a car requiring restoration and
registered it in December 2021, following its export from Connecticut in July
2021 being the sole owner on the log-book.
The history file also includes photos of the car when completed, going
back through the restoration including as a bare chassis and body with all new
suspension components fitted and a selection of sundry bills for some of the
parts bought including new starter motor, brake pads and head lamp
rims.
Ready to be enjoyed with a few small jobs
to do to make it your own including fitting the roof, the car looks tidy and is
on offer at No Reserve, so the highest bid takes it home.
