1968 Austin Mini Cooper
Wonderful example in
super order subject to considerable restorative works by AMK Engineering, ready
to be enjoyed or tucked away as an investment
Dating from November 1968 this spanking MkII Mini Cooper looks
super, finished in red with a black roof sat upon diminutive Minilite alloy
wheels.
Under the bonnet, we find the familiar
1,275cc four-cylinder A-series engine driving the front wheels via four-speed
manual transmission.
Inside the cabin, we see
black vinyl seats with matching black carpets and black door cards, period
fixtures and a heater.
A quick de-coding of the Vin#
CA2SB1187288A reveals the car to be an
Austin Mini Cooper/Cooper S "C", with the A-series engine "A", two-door variant
"2S", be a MKII Austin version "B" and was assembled at Longbridge
"A".
The history file includes a partial V5C
(front page and new keeper supplement), some photos and current MOT valid until
September 2023 with no advisories recorded.
We
also note inclusion of an undated document from AMK Engineering of Barnoldswick,
Lancashire who look to have carried out significant restoration works on the car
including a strip down to a bare shell, fitment of new inner and outer sills,
new floor pan sections, repairs to the inner wings, new front wings, new scuttle
A-panels and bonnet, re-skinned doors, new lower valance and boot floor etc and
then a bare metal re-paint.
In addition to
that, a complete new exhaust system was fitted, new tyres, new radiator, new
clutch, new water pump and fan belt, new engine mountings, new distributor,
replacement timing cover and drive shaft oil seals, new ball joints fitted plus
new bushes, sub-frame mountings and shockers.
A
new rear sub-frame was also fitted along with rebuilt brake callipers, BF
Goodridge brake hoses, new discs, pads, rear wheel cylinders and liners
too. The bumpers, grill and
headlamp bowls were also replaced along with a new headlining and carpets
too.
The file includes two further bills both
dated October 2016 also from AMK Engineering for fitment of rear inertia seat
belts and stainless mirrors plus a lube service and check over at 00162 miles –
the car currently shows 01429 miles.
Ready to
be enjoyed or tucked away for the future as a tidy little
investment.
