1918 Sigma Tourer
Lovely French Edwardian
Light Car; charming features; driven to the sale; usable and
fun
First UK registered in 1972, this 1,592cc Ballot-powered Sigma
is listed with the DVLA as dating from 1918. It was on display at the National
Motor Museum in the early 1970s and lived in the North East in the
1980s.
Retaining its original brass fittings and wood cappings on the
pretty, open four-seat bodywork, it has been with our vendor for the last year
or so and has proved both reliable and great fun to drive - the recent
acquisition of something altogether larger and faster prompting its reluctant
sale.
Build to take the general abuse handed out by the average French
motorist of the period, the Sigma was well constructed and used a propietry
Ballot engine which ensures reliability and a possible source of parts should
the need arise.
Ideal for VSCC Light Car events, including the
forthcoming Longstone Tyres Light Car Race at Donington Park next June,
this Sigma opens up all sorts of opportunities thanks to its pre-1919 build date
and simple 'Light Car' construction.
