1992 Jaguar XJS Convertible
Pretty, automatic
5.3 V12 Convertible example featuring electric heated seats in good usable order
driven to the sale by enthusiast owner
Dating
from May 1992 this striking Signal Red Jaguar XJS Convertible sits well on its
five-spoke 16inch alloy wheels and contrasting black Mohair
hood.
Under that long bonnet, we find the
familiar 5.3-litre HE V12 developing 292bhp with three-speed (the engine grew to
6.0 litre in 1992 and the transmission became four speed) automatic
transmission.
Inside the cosy cockpit, we find
seating just for two, the Convertible being a strict two-seater, beige leather
and vinyl interior with light wood trim, electric windows, electric heated
seats, cruise control, heated rear screen, digital trip computer and electric
soft top which worked as it should.
The car
shows 98,528 miles and looks to have worn this and its 30 years well with only
some moderate signs of this to the interior and some limited signs of typical
degradation to the wheel arch bottoms as pictured, but generally the car
presents well, starting promptly and running well. It was also driven to the sale by the
vendor who has enjoyed the car for the last seven years.
The history file includes the V5C revealing nine former keepers,
the owner’s pack with manual, 14 old MOTs, current MOT valid until November 2023
(recording one advisory for corrosion to the outer rear sills) and some invoices
for parts and works undertaken including a service in 2019, new ignition parts,
some minor welding and other sundry items.
Ready to be enjoyed, with some minor cosmetic bits to consider
through the winter, these V12 Convertibles are arguably the prettiest of the XJS
lineage and always prove popular as a result.
