Description
1965 Ford Mustang 289
Straight as a die
ex-California car; unmolested and to original spec; V8 Auto; great paintwork;
driven 50 miles to the sale; one of the best available
This splendid
'notchback' rolled off the San Jose production line in California in 1965. The
chassis number confirms it was built as a 289cu in V8 with auto trans. The car
was given a thorough (and good quality) restoration in 2010 in the US, before
arriving in the UK that same year where it was registered KBD 298C.
Its
restorers did a thorough job on what appears to have been a very solid rust-free
California car - the whole bodyshell is spic and span. They resisted the
temptation to 'upgrade' the car, which remains in lovely stock condition - just
as Ford intended at launch.
The interior has worn extremely well, the
trim tag showing 65AJD528J7166 for those code-breakers amongst you.
Purchased by the vendor during a trip to Goodwood Revival - that sort of
thing can happen down there - in 2014, the car was used for local fun, including
the Bugatti Owners Club Concours where it won 'The Porter Trophy' for best
1960s car.
Regularly serviced and with a few purchases to keep it looking
as fresh as it does, including a new bumper in 2021, this Mustang represents one
of the nicest we have had the pleasure to offer.
Its most recent MOT
expired in 2020 and it was driven some 50 miles to us without a hitch. Its first
UK MOT in 2010 shows a mileage at that time of 92,954 miles - a further 6,264
miles haveing been added since.
This sweet-running car ticks all of the
boxes and is ready to be enjoyed.
