Lot Ended
Description
Interesting example that's been in storge since late 2018; some
recommissioning likely required; starts, runs and moves around; increasingly
desirable and rare variant
Supplied new by
Anthony Ince (Weston) Ltd of Weston-Super-Mare in March 1989 this later Scala
model Type 2 (Typ 53b) VW Scirocco is finished in Dark Blue and rides on its
period correct 14” four-stud multi spoke polished face alloy
wheels.
Under the bonnet, lays the 1.8-litre
four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels via five-speed manual
transmission.
Inside, we find comfortable
two-tone light grey and dark grey interior, original Blaupunkt Windsor
radio/cassette player, on-board trip computer, manual windows and manual
mirrors.
The car shows 119,403 miles and comes
to us as a stalled recommissioning project having been sitting since late
2018. The car starts and runs but
the brakes feel like they need attention with a soft pedal and old tyres.
Externally the car looks to be solid with some typical localised lacquer peel
and marks to the bumper corners, but not unexpected for a car of its age and
miles that’s led a life, yet offers considerable potential for the next
owner.
The history file includes the V5C
confirming just four former keepers to our vendor who has owned the car since
February 2018, the owner’s pack and service book revealing 18 stamps inc. PDI
plus the most recent entries, both hand-written dated 2008 and 2010 at 111,483
miles. The last stamped entry was in 2004 at 91,517 miles by Graham Batt Ltd who
looks to have serviced the car since 1997.
The
Scirocco doesn’t have a current MOT, the last expired in January 2019, however,
this was passed at 119,350 miles with no advisories which might bode well moving
forward.
An interesting opportunity to acquire
an increasingly rare and desirable retro-classic VW with low owners and a good
history on offer at No Reserve, so the highest bid takes it home.
