Description
Good-looking SE for light recommissioning; under 78,000 miles from
new; some history; recently running after a period off
road
Costing a smidge under £18,000 when unveiled in 1986, the
four-seat Excel SE was aimed sqarely at the 944 Porsche, offering superb
handling and driving ability with performace to match.
This May '86
example shows just three former keepers on the V5C and looks to have been well
cared-for during its life.
A service sheet shows four stamps to 1996 by
which time it had covered just over 60,000 miles, the odometer now showing
77,500 miles.
The vendor acquired the car as a recommissioning project in
2019 and made a start, but got distracted and has decided that it is time to
move on.
Bills on file show an oil change in 2020, along with a new
thermostat, dizzy cap, rad cap and coil, HT leads and a new radiator frame and
fan cowl. Also supplied but not fitted are some brake pads and the missing pair
of wheel centres.
The file includes a copy of the original road test, a
compendium of information on the Excel and the car's original hand book and
service sheet as well as a comprehensive factory service manual.
In
presentable order with a few areas of lacquer and paintwork to sort and with a
tidy interior, this Excel could be back on the road with relative ease and will
no doubt continue to offer rapid, comfortable motoring for many years to
come...
