Description
Beautifully built half-scale child's car; aluminium body; tubular
steel chassis; electric motor; independent front suspension; a work of
art!
This superb
Aston Martin DBR2 is the last of seven made by our vendor over the years, the
other six all produced to special order for a distinguished client base. Only
two real DBR2s were made by Aston Martin for racing purposes and this is a
half-scale model of the one driven to victory at Goodwood by Stirling Moss in
September 1959.
Finished in Almond Green with
green leather seats, it has a hand-made aluminium body with opening boot and
bonnet over a bespoke tubular steel chassis coated in grey. The car is powered
by a 24v electric motor on a cast aluminium transaxle with a dash-mounted speed
control dial and floor-mounted forward/reverse gear shift. It has an
electro-magnetic braking system, fully independent front suspension and working
headlights with their own separate battery under the front bonnet. Both
batteries can be recharged using a domestic three-pin plug connected to an
onboard charger.
It
measures 7ft long (215cm) x 2ft 6” wide (80cm) x 18” high (46cm) and comes with
a miniature buff logbook and 1959 tax disc. We are not sure of the exact weight
but two people can lift it fairly easily. The craftsmanship and the attention to
detail are exemplary and the model is in ‘as new’ condition, being in perfect
working order.
A marvellous gift for any
child, it would also make a wonderful ornament in any man cave and would sit
well in any car collection.
