Description
Tidy, restored example from enthusiast collector showing 5,607 hours;
16 gears; much to offer for light working duties or pleasure
Dating from February 1982 this attractive International Harvester
is a 955XL model, originally a French and German market model, and is
powered by a direct injection, naturally aspirated 5.9 litre six-cylinder diesel
engine developing 90Hp and 334Nm of torque with IH-Synchron transmission giving
16 gears forward, eight reverse with hydrostatic power steering and hydraulic
wet disc brakes for this 2WD variant.
The 955
shows just 5,607 hours, having spent much of its life locally on a farm running
a feeder wagon, according to the vendor.
Our
vendor’s father has spent the last couple of years gently restoring
the tractor to its current state, preserving rather than making as
new. Work undertaken includes internal clutch repairs and a new flywheel
(documented) costing some £2,734, a full strip down for cleaning and new
paint, new cab mounts, new steering column unit, a recon radiator, front stub
axle and complete set of bearings, a complete set of cab internal cladding, a
new exhaust manifold, new cab and window fittings and new lights
(undocumented).
Ready for work or play, it’s a
nice thing that will be handy to have around on any
small-holding.
