Description
Low mileage example; just four
owners; MOT April '24; mechanically well looked after
Introduced in 1988 and fitted with the punchy Honda 2.7-litre V6,
the 827Si incorporated Honda's four speed auto box with close ratios and
lower overall gearing compared to the less sporty 800 models.
The
press liked its performance - good for the 62mph dash in 8.4 seconds which is
still impressive for a big, comfy saloon. With a price tag of over £14,000 at
the time, they were reasonable sellers but were not highly prized as time went
by which is probably why there are so few left today.
For those 'died in
the wool' Rover fans out there, and there are many, this 827 Si represents the
top of the late '80s range and has still only covered 84,111 miles from new! It
is MOT'd until 27th of April 2024 according to the DVLA website with
no advisories showing and it certainly moved around nicely while taking the
photos.
Still looking sharp 34 years since
first registration, it is showing some signs of age, with lacquer peeling on the
drivers front and rear wing as well as the fuel flap. The interior is in good
condition apart from the sun visors which both have tears, the drivers one
missing a whole section of fabric entirely.
There are four former keepers
on the V5c. An extensive service was carried out in October of 2021 including a
cambelt and water pump kit, new brake discs and pads all round plus new rear
exhaust, the list goes on… the car has covered just over 1,000 miles since, with
a new nearside rear brake caliper fitted in April of last year just some 200
miles later.
This affordable Modern Classic still looks good more
than 30 years on and we all rather like it.
