Description
Driven to the sale; super original; use and improve.
This
last-of-the-line MkV Cortina Estate was first registered on 31st October 1979.
Effectively a MkIV with a new body and revised dash, the MkV was released with a
promise from Ford that it had far better rust proofing than previous
models, as well as coming with further diversity in engine ranges promising
better fuel economy and more power.
Coming from the factory with the
trusted 1.6-litre engine, this Cortina puts its 68bhp to the rear wheels via a
four-speed manual transmission and has been running and driving nicely on site.
This rare survivor presents itself in very honest condition and all seems
sound mechanically, pulling well through the gears and being driven to the sale
by the vendor.
Inside we can see the seats and trims are looking a little
tired, however everything appears to be working as it should, bar an erratic
speed reading. The Peppermint Green metallic bodywork looks reassuringly
straight and the odometer shows 86,546 miles which could well
be correct given the car's solid mechanical feel.
This is a
great opportunity to bag a useful car to enjoy as is, or indeed spend some time
on the aesthetics to have a real icon from the past.
