Description
Older restoration; overdrive; wire wheels; alloy bonnet; leather
seats; driven 50 miles to the sale; an appealing early GT
First
registered in February 1969 this early GT has had five owners to date, the
first of whom appears to have kept it until 2002, according to Experian. A
receipt on file dated 1994 for £1,950 refers to a 'restoration' - perhaps
including its respray which is now starting to show its age.
It was sold
for £2,750 in 2003 since when it has covered just 3,000 miles or so and has been
living with our vendor for a few years as a pending project to use and improve,
but the realisation has dawned that it will never quite get to the top of the to
do list....
Driven some 50 miles to the sale, it has working overdrive
and a lovely spec, with leather seat facings which look correct for the period,
original steering wheel, wire wheels and has not been fitted with a sunroof -
the ideal spec for many.
The photos show how the paint has deteriorated
over the years, which is a shame as the car looks remarkably sound and straight,
with good panel fit, nicely shutting doors and a gentle patina to the
rest.
There isn't a great deal else in the file and given it has done so
few miles over the last 20 years, would no doubt benefit from a good service and
tune up before more regular use.
