Brightwells’ pre-Christmas Wine Sale to be their biggest ever.
Wine, Port, Champagne and Whisky worth over £200,000 to come under the hammer.
A superb array of Fine Wine, Vintage Port and Champagne, Rare Malt Whisky and Exquisite Cognac are set to be sold at Brightwells on 5th December. The sale will take place at their Leominster Saleroom, commencing at 11am.
Wine investors, collectors and buyers looking for an interesting Christmas tipple will all be well served as over 800 lots will be offered on the day, with prices ranging from around £100 a dozen up to well over £1000 per bottle.
The centrepiece of the sale is a superb private collection of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone, Port and Champagne that will be offered under bond. The wines are currently lying with Tanners of Shrewsbury in perfect storage conditions and come with impeccable provenance. Highlights include 6 bottles of Chateau Mission Haut Brion 2010 (£1,500 - £2,000) and 12 bottles of Richebourg Grand Cru Roche de Bellene 2010 (£2,500 - £3,300). Over 100 lots will be offered with an expected total of around £100,000.
Brightwells’ Head of Wine Sales Paddy Shave is delighted to be offering this iconic collection at auction: ‘These are exceptional wines from current vintages which makes them very investable. We have had a good deal of interest from local collectors, the London trade and buyers from overseas’.
The success of Brightwells’ recent Whisky Auction has resulted in many new vendors consigning their collections. The Whisky and Cognac section features a number of ultra-rare bottlings. A Macallan 1961 80 Proof is expected to achieve in excess of £4,000 and a Macallan 1965 is expected to achieve over £3,000. Often considered amongst the finest Cognacs in the world, 2 bottles of Louis XIII from Remy Martin are expected to top £1,000 each.
The sale will be on view on Monday 3rd December, Tuesday 4th and on the morning of the 5th. There will be a tasting of selected wines and Cognacs from 3pm – 7pm on Tuesday 4th December and on the morning of the sale.
