The Natural History and Country Sports Sections are held twice annually and include items celebrating the beauty of the Natural World. The section assembles a wide range of taxidermy, entomological collections, fossils, shells, antiquarian and rare books and pictures offering the collector and interior designer the opportunity to purchase rare and unique items.
Recent successes include a very rare case of Hutchings taxidermy displaying a Red Kite (Milvus milvus) upon Red Grouse (Lagopus lagopus scoticus) prey which achieved £4000 plus buyer’s premium. An extensive lepidopteran collection collected from various locations throughout England in the early 20th Century by the late William Gifford-Inge containing several now rare or extinct species such as Black-Veined White and Large Blue also surpassed expectations finally making £3900 plus buyer’s premium.
The sale is catalogued and managed by Daniel Webb a passionate amateur ornithologist, bird ringer and falconer with an interest in everything involving Natural History.
