Brightwells is an independently owned limited company, with the shareholding held within the employee base. 

The business is run by a board of Executive Directors, one Non-Executive Director and a Company Secretary. Heads of Department report to the Board, some of whom also sit on the Board.

Irving Parry

Director & Chairman, FRICS FAAV / Rural Professional, Farms & Land

Based at Builth Wells, having started at the company in 1982, Irving is responsible for property valuations, agricultural finance, farm and estate management, expert witness and litigation support, landlord and tenant, compulsory purchase, Single Payment Scheme, property, chattels and livestock auctions. A member of the Valuation Panel for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation plc.

Joint Managing Director, BSc Hons (AgricEcon) / 4x4s, Cars & Vans

Richard joined Brightwells from University in 1992, originally employed in the team that was establishing and developing our 4x4 Auction Business. After promotion to Auctioneer and then Associate a couple of years later, Richard later became General Manager of the Vehicle Department in 2001. In 2007, he joined the Board of Directors, with a responsibility of reporting in marketing and IT. In January 2014, he became Joint Managing Director.

Nick Gorst

Nick Gorst

Joint Managing Director, MRICS FAAV / Plant, Machinery & HGV

Nick has been with the company since 1990 and has been instrumental in the expansion of the Plant, Machinery and HGV Division of Brightwells. Nick has been Auctioneering since 1984, having followed his father into the profession, also carrying out Professional Valuations on Plant, Machinery, Commercial and Agricultural Property. In January 2014, he became Joint Managing Director.


Tony McArthur

Finance Director / Finance and Administration

Tony became our Finance Director in 2014 and is responsible for overseeing the whole of the accounting and administration functions of the company.


Andrew Bound

Non-Executive Director, LLB (Hons) / Finance and Administration

Andrew is a partner in the law firm Berry Smith LLP and specialises in company and commercial law. He has advised Brightwells for several years. Andrew joined our Board of directors in 2018. In his role as a director, Andrew advises the Board on the strategic, legal and compliance issues that arise in running a multi-faceted auction house like ours.

Company Secretary / Finance and Administration

Percy became Company Secretary in 2014, having worked at the company since 1990. In charge of the day-to-day running of the administrative department, Percy also oversees the team responsible for paying out our vendors, paying our suppliers and collecting debtors monies.
