The Aristocat is just one of a variety of machines available from race-prep experts Autotune Ltd, based in Rishton, Lancashire.
Offering comprehensive kits enabling the talented home-engineer to build clever replicas of a 1960s Elva, a monstrous Can-Am McLaren or the iconic Jaguar XK120, they have built an International reputation for supplying a high quality, well-developed product.
Launched in 1983, the Aristocat XK120 was designed to use a Jaguar XJ6 as a donor vehicle, the engine and gearbox fitting neatly into an Autotune-supplied spaceframe which also accepted the standard Jaguar suspension and steering. The result is a wider car than the original XK120 upon which it is styled, making it much more comfortable for genuine 6-footers as well as having a larger boot.
This very nicely prepared manual/overdrive car was built by a Welsh engineer sometime in the 1990s. A comprehensive build history accompanies the vehicle along with a list of servicing and ongoing maintenance over the years. Based on a 1970 4.2-litre XJ6 donor, the build included red leather trim, a stainless steel exhaust, correct Jaguar wire wheels with ‘knock-ons’ and chrome components including the bumpers from an XK model. It also comes with a hood and side screens.
Registered with the DVLA as an Autotune Aristocat, it has recently been serviced, is tax exempt and has an MOT until July 2017. This comfortable and well-finished Aristocat is only being sold due to lack of storage space and offers a lot of Grace, Space and Pace for a mere fraction of the price of the real deal.
