One of a pair of Shadow IIs in our sale today, this May 1977 example has been in the current ownership since 1996.
It has covered some 119,320 miles to date with a good service history comprising no fewer than 16 stamps in the service book up to 96,414 miles in 1984 plus numerous bills for subsequent maintenance. The vendor has always kept it garaged during his ownership and has used it sparingly in fine weather only, covering a mere 4,500 miles in 22 years.
During his ownership the brakes have been fully overhauled with new hydraulics and discs, a new power steering rack and new alternator have been fitted and the car has been thoroughly rust-proofed underneath using a corrosion inhibitor normally using on shipping containers. He assures us that this has worked a treat!
Looking most impressive in Walnut with a tan Everflex roof and a beige hide interior with picnic tables in the back, it is said to have always proved very reliable and is due to have a new MOT in time for the sale. Other documentation includes eight old MOTs, all the original handbooks in the original RR wallet, detailed factory build sheets and the original purchase invoice from 1977 when the car cost £20,298.
Bidders are advised that an HPI check records that the car was fire damaged in 1996 although there is no evidence of this that we could see. Only reluctantly for sale due to the advancing years of the vendor, it is being offered here at no reserve so the best bid takes it home.
