We had our suspicions, here at Brightwells, about this A35 van, but a thorough examination revealed no trace of Wensleydale cheese and so we have to assume that this is not the van used by Wallace and Gromit in the Oscar-winning film “Curse of The Were-Rabbit”.
It is, however, a cracking van. It appears to have had a lot of work done on it during 2014/15 with a sheaf of invoices from specialist supplier Bull Motif, but there is no record of who carried out the work (could have been Gromit after all: he is pretty handy with a screwdriver…).
The van has had front wing repair panels, new headlamp bowls, new springs front and rear, king pin kits, track rods ends, brake master cylinder repair kit, brake shoes and hose as well as a new water pump and a recent ignition coil.
The result is a tidy van that started easily and drove well around the Brightwells’ site and looks very presentable – an ideal promotional vehicle (the current sign-writing is removable). The MOT history shows that it has covered around 12,000 miles in the last 12 years, with a bit of a lay up between 2009 and its refurb in 2014.
The A35 is an uncomplicated piece of kit and there is no problem with spares (just ask Bull Motif). You could even hot it up if you wished in the style of the A35 Academy racing cars (though don’t expect a Goodwood entry). A useful, practical classic (MOT to August 2018) good enough for everyday use - just don’t go giving lifts to penguins wearing rubber gloves on their heads…..
Sold with V5C, MOT (August 2018 minor advisories), some invoices and 21 past MOTs.
