Full Description

1981 Triumph TR7 Convertible

Fast appreciating model; only 61,000 miles showing; very original and in impressive order; recently re-commissioned for the road; dry stored and owned by our vendor for the last 26 years; very tempting

According to paperwork on file, this TR7 was distributed by Stratstone in Mayfair, London. First registered in 1981 and kept by its initial few owners in West Sussex, it was soon taken to Northern Ireland by our vendor in 1995. The MOT record on file shows it covered 54,000 miles while on the mainland. Once based over in N.I, it was used sparingly, appearing to have been well looked after, adding fewer than 1000 miles per year and being road tested until 2002.
Now showing just 61,000 miles it has been dry stored and still wears its Cavalry blue paint work, although a little touching up has been done to the headlight covers and the doors, but otherwise it is original. Appearing to have never been welded, the panels are original and the interior is as good as it should be, considering the age of the vehicle.
Sitting on Compomotive 14in alloy wheels, Koni suspension and a refurbished back axle, it shows off a shiny stainless exhaust and unlike many convertibles from this period, the hood appears to have no tears to let the water in.
We are told by the vendor that it has been recently re-commissioned for the road which included the rear axle work and the brakes being freed off after being stood in storage for some time. Bidders should be made aware though that since the car has come out of storage and arrived with us, the choke sticks on (cable not connected) and it has dropped some engine oil which needs investigation. It has not been used regularly for some time, although it was driven about 45 miles to the transport company who brought it across the Irish Sea and also of course for our video.
A little work is needed to get this TR back on the road properly and safely, but it is all there and in mostly original condition with a respectable mileage showing.
