Full Description

1966 Triumph Spitfire Mk II

Spent much of its life in South Africa featuring at many shows; ex - Graham Cheetham; returned to the UK with the previous owner when moving to Scotland; electronic ignition fitted

This Spitfire has been in South Africa for a considerable time, owned since the 1980s we believe, by well known Englishman, Graham Cheetham, who founded the Triumph Sports Club in South Africa. We understand it was rebuilt by Cheetham during his ownership and in 2010, was bought by a fellow Triumph fan in S.A and taken to numerous shows and rallies in the country. A house move to the UK in 2019 led to the car being registered over here and it was subsequently purchased by our vendor very recently in an act of spontaneous late night bidding!  Unfortunately, due to work commitments and no real space to store the Mk II, it is now up for sale again.
Between 2010 and 2019, a detailed log was kept on all maintenance that took place which included a few standard services. In 2011, there was an overhaul of the front and rear suspension, a replaced thermostat and fitting of the electronic ignition. The file of paperwork includes sheafs of invoices from over the years.

During this time, it was used on a regular basis, being shown at many South African shows and taking part in rallies and road trips across the country. In 2012, it was awarded a Silver Medal at the Concours ‘etat competition at the National Gathering in Plettenberg Bay.

We understand the current ‘Frozen White’ paintwork was applied before being imported to the UK in 2019. Now registered as KKH 960D, it has not been used very regularly and would benefit from a good tune up/service, appearing to be a great opportunity to own one of these good looking Mark II Spitfires.
