Lambs top at 185p/kg
Brightwells report a much improved trade and over 2650 sheep at Builth Wells Market on Friday 18th December.
The most improvement in trade was on the heavy weight lambs 46-52kg with numerous pens over £84 to top at £86.50 for 49kg (176.5p/kg) for Texel Cross lambs from WJT Powell, Rhydllyn, the heavy weight lambs realised an average of 162.9p/kg with over half the pens being Welsh or Mules.
The top price per kg was185p/kg for 40kg - £74 for Beltex cross lambs from J S Kinsey Box.
The medium weight lambs averaged 169.1p/kg which would equate to a deadweight price of 375p/kg.
The large number of lightweight hill lambs 25.5kg to 32kg averaged 145.8p/kg.

49kg - £86.50 -176.5p/kg – WJT Powell, Rhydllyn
An improved entry of close to 400 ewes met with a buoyant trade with Mules up to £72 Beulahs up to £58 and Hill ewes to £50.
Next Primestock in Builth Wells is on Saturday 2nd January but Rhayader is going on Tuesday 22nd December and Tuesday 29th December.
More lambs and ewes are wanted on weekly basis to meet current buyer demand.
