NEW Aintree Sport Horse Auction
The inaugural sale of young show jumpers and competition horses got off to a solid start at The Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool, and achieved a pleasing set of returns to lay a good foundation on which to build for future sales at this first class facility.
A large audience of over 500 buyers and spectators enjoyed the evening event, which followed a day’s competitive show jumping in the main ring at the very popular Equestrian Centre based at the famous Liverpool racecourse.
In addition to the buyers in attendance, the lots on offer attracted both nationwide and international interest from other parties, with telephone bidding from as far apart as the USA and Scandinavia.
Of the 35 horses offered 16 found new homes at an average price of over £9,000, with the sale turnover at £145,000.
Top price was £28,000 for Lot 19 Its Comming, a 3 year old mare by the Holstein Stallion Carambole, out of an Elite mare by Karlstad. Selected in Holland and presented by her owner Maarten Kamphuis. It’s Comming, a very smart, well presented and beautifully bred mare showed her future prowess and ability in the loose jumping presentation, which had taken place at the centre the day previously. The mare attracted plenty of interest in the sales ring and after a hard fought bidding battle the ownership of this very appealing mare fell to Dan Wright of Stafford.
Next highest price, and the best return for a UK consigned horses was for Lot 16 Independer-H who achieved £13,000 and was secured by Roberts Enterprises Ltd from Pontefract. The 3 year old stallion with Cornet Obolensky bloodlines had been presented from Tom and Mya Goldsmith’s Harrington Stud in Canterbury and was another well produced young horse that had caught many prospective buyers attention with his eye catching performance in the loose jumping arena.
Brightwells Director Terry Court Commented "This was a great start to what we hope, with the help of the Aintree executive will become one or even more sales per year held at this fantastic venue. We know that we did not get everything right for this inaugural sale, but with a few organisational improvements it can only go from strength to strength."
