Strong competition for star lots

On Saturday 29th October 2016, Brightwells Auctioneers at the kind instructions of GF Roberts Farms Limited conducted an important and much anticipated dispersal sale of 10 modern and classic tractors, combine harvester and two loaders together with an extensive range of machinery.

The sale arose following the decision by the farm’s owners to retire and the farm being let privately by Brightwells Limited.

Much of the machinery had been purchased new and had not slept outside. The range of machinery represented a “snapshot” of the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s.

The clean and tidy machinery, with low hours on the tractors, generated very substantial International, National and Local Interest, leading to over 1,000 people attending the sale on a clear bright day.

Bidding was spirited throughout, with local people competing with buyers from Ireland, Scotland, Cumbria, Wales, The Midlands and East Anglia. A mobile rostrum with internet bidding ensured some very surprising results, with salegoers watching in amazement as multiple internet bidders competed for of the star lots.

Quite possibly one or two records were set, particularly as Auctioneer James McIntyre sold the 1997 John Deere 6400 Tractor with 2466 recorded hours for £21,000 and the 1988 Ford 7810 Tractor with 7211 recorded hours which sold for £17,000.
