Lot 23 De Pleasure Tops the Sale

Eventing clients dominated the audience at the final Elite sport horse sale of this year. Sale topper, Lot 23 De Pleasure, a 3-year-old gelding by Diacontinus x For Pleasure, achieved a price of £34,000 and has found a new home with event rider Eliza Stoddart. De Pleasure was beautifully presented under saddle the evening before the sale, followed by a loose jumping presentation on Saturday morning, where he showed his athleticism and scope.

Lot 8 Kraziano, a 3-year-old gelding by Graziano x Kojak, also has a place on Eliza’s yard. Eliza will produce the smart young horse for purchaser Mrs Thomasin Kemp, with an eventing future in mind.

The second top priced horse went to Lot 43 Princescornet, a 3-year-old daughter of Cornet Obolensky x Calvaro. This super mare wowed the audience with her scope and technique during the presentation & sale. A bidding war broke out between two phone-bidders, one in Switzerland and the other in Sweden. It was Stall Stenhaga of Sweden who managed to secure the mare for £32,000.

A very familiar face to Brightwells Elite sales is Harry Horgan, who secured Lot 1 Rubin Moon for £21,000. Rubin Moon will join Harry’s string of Brightwells sale graduates, where he will be produced for eventing.

The live stream was again conducted by ‘ClipMyHorse TV’, and Brightwells are delighted to be working alongside them. Statistics show that again it was an international affair, with numerous European countries watching the action, along with countries as far afield as Mexico & the USA.

We would like to thank Sam Ecroyd & Emily King, who opened proceedings last Saturday evening, courtesy of their sponsors Equipe. Sam was riding Crowntaro Z, a 5yo gelding whom he purchased at the 2015 December Elite sale, while Emily was aboard Izzy, a 5yo mare, who she said had only been with her for one month.  The duo performed a 45-minute demonstration under saddle, testing their young horses around a tight course of jumps in the sale arena, talking their audience through how they train young horses, whilst keeping the display light-hearted & engaging.

Brightwells are extremely grateful for the continued support from vendors and clients, both old and new. The December Elite Sale consistently sources and sells quality young horses, which are bred for the sport. It really is the place to find your next future star!

We are back at Addington on 11th May 2019 for the Elite sale of Dressage prospects. Don’t hesitate to get in touch, whether you are looking to buy or sell.
