Plant, Machinery & HGVs August Report
Our 8th sale of the year saw an extremely strong trade here in Madley. The wet weather on the day, and in the week leading up to the auction, had meant that there were lots of buyers unable to continue their normal work. We were somewhat short on entries and this has meant one of our lowest sale totals in some months. Clearance rate was well up and we cleared out almost all of the machinery here. With the current weak pound, we anticipated a huge export drive however this was no the case. We had a normal value of machinery exported and anticipate a strong come back next month after the continent’s summer break.
Used plant is becoming increasingly scarce at the moment & this has led to some really high prices. We are still consistently achieving some of the best prices in the country for used machines. We work closely with many large national hire fleets and can arrange transport for all varieties of loads from all over the country. We had several telehandlers & dumpers from a couple of national hire firms this month, most of which achieved strong prices. Excavators were hard to find but easy to sell. Rollers were in high demand and we cleared a good percentage. Large plant was a bit hard work this month, we got plenty sold but had a few machines which were left over here. Full results always available on our page which can be found via the link below.
We had some interesting tractors this month and as always, the entries from the Environment Agency made strong money and will soon be back to work. Some other lovely examples got away well also, there were several machines which had come to us fresh from contracting & a couple of repossessions, all of which sold for good money. We had a good selection of different colour tractors this month and there was no discernible top brand. Every machine seemed to be selling for more than we expected. We anticipate a full entry for our September sale and have already taken several tractor entries. If you have a tractor or agricultural machine to sell, then do please get in touch as soon as possible to get lot numbers saved.
3 artic trailers topped the HGV results this month, a 5 axle King low loader, a walking floor trailer & a timber trailer. We were pleased with the overall results from this section. Several council vehicles sold extremely well. This section saw a good percentage of export trade with several vehicles going over to the continent. There will be a strong contingent of vehicles in our next auction on the 13th September. A link to the catalogue & the full results from this auction can be found below.
We had a great selection of grounds care equipment on offer this month. We anticipate seeing a slight dip in this section over the next few months as we head into the end of grass cutting season. This month yielded well for us and for anyone who had compact tractors & mowers entered. We also had a good collection of chippers of all makes & ages, these sold very well.
Farm machinery & trailers had another good day with most entries getting strong bids & being sold away well. This is another section for which we anticipate a strong entry next month as a lot of the busy works on the farm will start to wrap up.
Entries are now open & flooding in for our next auction on the 13th September. This is typically one of our biggest in the year so we encourage anyone to get in touch soon to enter your machinery.
We had a great day for our vintage plant dispersal sale held a few weeks ago & are on the look out for our next direct dispersal sale.
