1972 MG Midget
Only 7,700 miles on rebuilt engine and 57k miles from new; recent new shocks and springs; hard top and soft top; current owner 8 years; lots of bills; ready to go
First registered in June 1972, this ‘round arch’ Midget has only covered 56,644 miles from new as evidenced by copies of 20 old MOTs going right back to 1975 when it had covered 3,760 miles. A good file of invoices show that much money was spent on the car between 2007 and 2009, the bills amounting to over £5,300.
This included a full engine rebuild at 48,914 miles with new high compression pistons, reground crank, new bearings etc; new oil pump; carbs rebuilt; new brake master cylinder; four new shock absorbers; new rear springs; new front wings; new door skins; respray plus much else besides.
Starting promptly and running nicely as we moved it around for these photos, it showed excellent 60psi oil pressure and has an MOT until May 2021 with just one minor advisory (‘handbrake has little reserve travel left’). Supplied with a hard top and a soft top, it has the odd blemish here and there but nonetheless looks very tempting at the sensible guide price suggested.
