1984 Mini Cooper Tribute
Extensively worked on with new wings, sills, floor panels, doorposts and full respray
Our vendor acquired this Cooper Tribute three or four years ago and started the operation to give what was then a standard black Mini Mayfair a bit of Cooper treatment, or multiple birthdays all at once, depending on how you look at it.
Over the course of the next three years, the shell has had new front wings, windscreen lower surround, doorposts, two A panels and sills, followed by floor panels being repaired, wheel arches replaced, new boot floor, rear lower valance and all finished with a smart full respray as you see today.
Under the bonnet, the engine was re-bored and modified to take the 1,275cc cylinder head with twin valve springs, new big ends fitted, new sprint cam and followers, duplex chain kit fitted with a new oil pump, new clutch, all new hoses, radiator and heater matrix, followed by twin SUs and filters and a three branch big bore manifold and exhaust system, not forgetting a new water pump and starter motor.
Further mechanical work was also completed, including the brake system being entirely renewed with cylinders and shoes replaced. New Koni shockers were fitted along with new suspension components alongside and two upgraded drive shafts fitted.
Inside the car, as seen in the photos, the dash has reverted back to the older style, the seats, panels and door cards have been re-upholstered/renewed and a new tinted windscreen has been fitted. To set it all off the car now sits on new Mamba alloy wheels and tyres with the smart arches and trim.
So what started as potentially a quick job, turned into a project that filled quite a few pandemic lockdown days, our vendor producing an exciting and fun motor car for you to enjoy.
