1982 Porsche 924 Turbo
Rare car recently
re-commissioned at considerable cost following many years stored in a barn;
considerable history; fresh MOT
This well-loved 932
(RHD) Series 2 924 Turbo was delivered new in Germany through Porsche dealer
Tolke & Fischer on 26th March 1982 to Capt. R M Cogar.
He kept the
car with him through various postings in Germany in the early ‘80s. There are a
host of invoices and 27 service stamps, plus 7 additional for brake fluid and
coolant changes across the Porsche network overseas, prior to its first UK
dealer visits at Dick Lovett, Swindon in 1985, 86, and 87.
The car has a
colossal history, highlights include the original purchase order listing the
fitted options of a rear wash/wiper, tinted glass and 2nd mirror. The speedo was
to be MPH and the car RHD and finished in Mauritius Blue with ‘BH’ cloth. The
first V5C on file shows it to have been UK registered on 31st October 1984 and
declared manufactured 1982. Oddly, the later V5’s on file show it as first
registered December 1992 – evidently incorrect!
Purchased from us by our
vendor in winter 2019, they have gone right through the car investing hugely in
time and financial outlay, but the results speak for themselves. Thoroughly
recommissioned, the works were undertaken in-house with some specialist aspects
outsourced including engine and fuel system repairs by 924 specialists Woolies
Workshop, new dash, refurbished wheels, new tyres, overhauled brakes and
suspension and a complete re-spray some of which is documented in the history
file.
Other service record highlights include replacement of the cylinder
head by Dick Lovett Porsche in March 1988 at 35,933 miles and a factory recall
notice from November 1985. A documented change of speedometer and milometer by
Dick Lovett Porsche in July 1999 at 73,858 miles and most recent major annual
services by Oak Tree Garage of Devon in 2002, 2003 and 2004 which total some
£3,000 are also listed. In addition, there is a second duplicate service book in
English, fully stamped plus useful owner’s manuals.
There is sufficient
German and UK history to suggest the total mileage of c84,000 is correct (now
showing 10,178). The car has 15 old MOTs on file plus the current valid until
September 2022 with just 2 minor advisories recorded for the service brake
binding on both sides.
Highly sought after and collectible, the 924 Turbo
has a market demand all of its own with prices climbing year on year with so few
available, particularly with low mileage and ownership of this restored
example.
