1987 Volvo 740 GLE

Tidy, low mileage 4-owner 2.3 litre 740 GLE with heated leather seats, manual 'box and just 71,055 miles indicated

Dating from January 1987 this nice old 700 series comes to us in desirable 740 GLE spec featuring the 2.3 litre naturally aspirated four cylinder engine developing 131Bhp driving the front wheels via 4-speed manual M46 transmission with Laycock de Normanville overdrive.

Finished in dark blue with contrasting black leather the car appears in totally stock, unmolested form even wearing its original wheels. Inside, we find heated leather seats, electric windows, heated rear screen, manual sunroof and more modern JVC radio/CD player.

The car shows just 71,055 miles covered by its 4-owners, the first of whom kept it from new until 2015. The history file includes the V5C, owner’s pack, Volvo book, Volvo travellers guide, original price list, period sales brochure and selection of sundry bills for historic parts and service work including big end shells, timing belt which looks like it was done in 2015 judging from another invoice for a timing belt dated 2015 and 16 old Mots dating back to 1994 at 14,567 miles up to the present ticket, valid until February 2022 showing no advisories. The MOT history shows the car to have been off the road between 2018 and 2021.

A nice car, with scope for some minor cosmetic remedial work to the interior as pictured and a good service no doubt, but one that should reward given its rarity and lower mileage. Very cool in an alternative kind-a-way.
