1973 Volkswagen Microbus
Owned by our vendor since 1977; reconditioned engine; original interior
Originally registered in 1973, this Microbus was owned by its first owner in Birmingham before being purchased by our local vendor in 1977. It has lived locally ever since and regularly seen to by Oldfields Garage in Leominster since the mid 1990s.
In 1984, after the service book had been stamped no less than 29 times, the engine was replaced with a factory reconditioned unit (CA019165X). The mileage was recorded as being 92,509. It has done another 27,732 since and the book has a further five stamps up to 1999. Bills continue to record maintenance and servicing over the years up until November 2021. Within this time, brakes have been attended to, some welds when needed on both rear corners, battery trays, both front arches, outriggers and rear floor and a new clutch fitted in 2015. Persuaded through an MOT almost every year, the majority of all work can be seen on the online MOT history. The most recent done in December 2021 with two advisories related to some underside corrosion.
CDH 768L has its original bench seating with no hint of any conversion being done. Running and driving with the handy roof rack above for those long camping weekends. The quality of the exterior can be seen in the photographs – it is certainly passable but would benefit from a respray of the Orient Blue and Pastel White along with some attention to the ususal rusty areas.
