Description
Rare, fast and desirable; 1 of just 370 Alpina Roadster
S's built; 6spd manual 'box - very cool indeed
Supplied new in March 2006 by Alpina’s Authorised UK dealership -
the Sytner group, this effortlessly cool and discreet Alpina Roadster S is
finished in Titan Silver with contrasting black Mohair hood and sits on a set of
rather wonderful 19” Alpina multi-spoke alloy wheels. It is also one of just 370 cars built
worldwide, with just 167 RHD cars for the UK market, this being car no. 297 of
the 370.
Under the bonnet, we find a hand-built
Alpina 3.4 litre straight six engine based upon an enlarged S52B32 engine (as
found in the American E36 M3) with Alpina specific cylinder head and crank shaft
as well as Mahle pistons and stainless Eisenmann exhaust with dual polished
tips. Power is rated at 296bhp and
360NM of torque which drive the rear wheels via, and somewhat unusually for
Alpina, six-speed ZF manual transmission thus ensuring the Roadster S remained a
proper driver’s car.
Inside, we find a black
leather interior (1 of 3 colours available) with blue and green stitching,
Alpina embossed seats and trim, blue Alpina branded dials, kickplates, heated
electric seats, electric roof with heated glass screen, electric windows,
electric mirrors, on-board trip computer, multi-function leather steering wheel,
automatic lights, traction control, tyre-pressure monitoring, air conditioning
and original BMW Business radio/CD player.
This
rare and capable car shows 153,988 miles, yet looks like its done half that
having worn its years and miles remarkably well, evidently well cared for and a
testament to its build quality.
The history
file includes the V5C recording just two former keepers to our vendor who has
enjoyed the car for the last two years, the Alpina owner’s pack with manuals and
service book revealing some 13 service stamps, the last in February 2020 at
142,445 miles plus a further four stamps for brake fluid changes many of which
have been with main dealers.
In addition to
that mentioned above, we also find at least 11 old MOTs, the current MOT valid
until April 2024 recording just one minor advisory for a chip to the windscreen
and a file of supporting invoices for routine maintenance and parts purchased
over the years including a more recent service in 2021 and front suspension
bushes.
Ready to be enjoyed, the car looks
subtly powerful and no doubt goes like stink with a smart interior loaded with
options and almost 300bhp under the bonnet and a six-speed manual – there’s much
to like here.
