Description
Superbly presented 380SL; over £25k spent in the last nine years
including reconditioned gearbox, new injectors and new soft top; lovely colour
scheme and AMG Penta alloys; driven 75 miles to the sale
Supplied new by
Callanders Mercedes-Benz Centre of Glasgow in August 1983, this wonderful 380SL
came finished in what is possibly the most desirable colour scheme available,
the sharp ‘80s bodywork finished in a tasteful cream and the interior trimmed in
Hazelwood brown with tartan accents. It also sits on some very tasty AMG
Penta-style alloys.
Coming with a very
impressive history folder back to the late ‘80s, we can see in depth
recommissioning works have taken place, with a total spend of £25,500 in the
last nine years, covering everything from window switches to bodywork to major
mechanical works.
Some of the stand-out invoices
on file include: a new hood in May 2015 which is still in excellent
condition today; an exhaust manifold in March 2016 along with a replacement
recommissioned gearbox and new torque converter; in April 2017 all new Bosch
injectors were fitted and the car received a tune-up. Most recently we can see a
new steering box was fitted along with new rear brake callipers, discs and pads
in April 2023 and it had a new idle control valve in May of this
year.
A vast number of MOTs in the history folder
back up what is shown online with MOT tests carried out nearly every year to
date, the current MOT being valid until 20th November with just one
advisory for a slight steering box oil leak.
Driven 75 miles to the sale and starting promptly and running nicely
on site, this is a great opportunity to take home a timeless and well-maintained
classic at a sensible guide price.
