A
superb 1962 Manx Norton replica, built expressly for competition in the
Lansdowne Series and presented here in brand-new, unridden condition. Constructed
with great care and equipped exclusively with high-quality components, this machine
represents a rare opportunity to acquire a freshly built, zero-hours Manx-spec racer.
At its heart is a Sommerfield square
86 x 86 short-stroke engine, fed by a GP2
carburettor, offering the crisp performance and rev-happy characteristics expected of a
proper Manx unit. Ignition is via a MTT magneto, completely rebuilt with
new original-spec bearings, platinum points, and
a full professional rewind by Dave Lindsley of Leominster, each unit fully
bench-tested following
completion.
The
machine sits in a Spondon frame, paired with a six-plate Mick Hemmings racing clutch
and five-speed Mick Hemmings racing gearbox,
ensuring the correct period feel with modern precision. Drive is by chain
throughout, retaining the original-type chain oiler and remote tank.
The seat has been reupholstered in suede and leather to original specification,
completing the authentic presentation.
All remaining components were supplied by Ken
McIntosh, long regarded as one of the foremost authorities on Manx Norton
machinery.
