Displaying just 20,924 miles with only two former keepers from new;
simply stunning original condition; running and driving after emerging from
long-term dry storage; find another
Introduced in
1986, the fourth-generation Ford Escort brought a more modern and aerodynamic
design to Ford’s hugely popular family hatchback range, whilst retaining the
practical and affordable character that had made the Escort such a familiar
sight on British roads.
Offered in a wide variety
of engines and trim levels, the Escort catered for a broad range of buyers, with
the LX sitting towards the more generously equipped end of the mainstream range.
By 1990, the Mk4 was approaching the end of its production run, with the all-new
Mk5 set to replace it later that year.
First
registered in 1990, this example is finished in ‘Radiant Red’ and presents in
simply excellent condition, displaying just 20,924 miles and having had only two
former keepers from new.
The Escort still proudly
wears its original ‘Solomons’ dealer sticker and is accompanied by its original
owner’s manuals, service guides, accident repair books and dealer directory. In
addition, there is a large selection of invoices covering routine servicing, oil
changes, sundry parts and minor repairs, providing a useful record of the car’s
upkeep throughout its life.
Having been kept in
dry storage for a considerable length of time, the little Escort’s MOT expired
in 2016, with no advisories recorded at its last test. It has covered only
around 40 miles since, suggesting that little has changed mechanically during
its time off the road. As such, bidders should expect some recommissioning work
before returning the car to regular road use. Nevertheless, the car has started
and driven keenly round our yard for photography and video without fault.
In summary, a very low mileage, two-owner Mk4
Escort in desirable LX trim, presented in simply stunning original condition.
Keenly estimated and seemingly requiring little to return to the road, this
represents a particularly appealing opportunity to acquire an increasingly rare
example of Ford’s much-loved family hatchback.
