new mother and daughter; fantastic documented history on the car; enjoyed over
the years enjoying some great adventures
An especially
appealing example of the ever-popular MGB GT, finished in Harvest Gold and
retaining a lovely family ownership history spanning more than five decades.
Powered by the 1,798cc four-cylinder engine with a four-speed manual gearbox and
overdrive, this classic British sports coupé has been cherished by just two
former keepers, both from the same family.
First registered in August
1973, the car was purchased new by Edna, aged 63, who enjoyed many years of
motoring with it, including trips across the country and everyday shopping
duties. In January 1996, ownership passed to her daughter, who continued to
enjoy the MG and take her mother on classic car outings until Edna’s passing in
2007. The car also took centre stage at her funeral, adorned with a black ribbon
tied to its radio aerial.
The current owner has
continued to enjoy the car, recalling memorable drives around Herefordshire and
across the Cotswolds. The accompanying history is particularly comprehensive,
comprising 32 old MOT certificates, 15 service stamps, invoices, brochures and a
full service history. The sale also includes a Haynes manual, a Cover Systems
car cover, a CSI Airflow 12-volt battery conditioner and a bottle of Valvemaster
Plus additive. The vendor confirms that the overdrive works
correctly.
The MGB GT has an MOT valid
until August 2027 and was driven over 25 miles to the sale. It was starting,
driving and stopping as expected while on site for photography and a short
video.
A charming opportunity to
acquire a well-loved MGB GT with exceptional family provenance, extensive
supporting history and the benefit of its desirable overdrive
transmission.
