Description
Beautifully restored; owned by our vendor for the last 50 years;
presented with a period style livestock body
An
exceptionally well-presented 1928 Vulcan 3X, purchased by the vendor in 1986 as
a rolling project from the family of the late Roger Maughlion. A photograph on
file records the vehicle at that time without a body. Unfortunately, no earlier
history is currently known.
The restoration
started in 2003 and was completed in 2010, with approximately 2,240 hours of
work recorded apparentyl. The truck was subsequently shown at its first rally in
2013 and has remained within the same private collection ever
since.
Finished in traditional green, the Vulcan
has been fitted with a beautifully constructed livestock body in the style of a
period general-purpose lorry, complete with timber-planked floor and traditional
detailing. The cab and body present extremely well and the truck retains its
distinctive Vulcan blacksmith radiator mascot, an established feature of Vulcan
vehicles.
The four-cylinder engine and engine bay
are particularly well presented, with the mechanical components retaining an
appropriately period appearance. The truck runs and drives, as demonstrated in
the accompanying photographs and video.
BF 6216
represents the culmination of a substantial long-term restoration, with the
current owner having retained the vehicle for some 40 years. Now offered from a
long-established private collection, it would make an excellent addition to a
collection of commercial vehicles and is equally well suited to shows, rallies
and preservation events.
A beautifully executed
and highly characterful vintage Vulcan, with an unusually well-documented
restoration and long-term custodianship.
