Description
Owned by our vendor since 1979; originally owned by Brynmawr &
Blaina Gas Company; completed London to Brighton in 2002
First registered and collected from the Guy Motors factory in 1930,
this Model ON is believed to be the only surviving example of its type in the
UK. It was originally supplied to the Brynmawr & Blaina Gas Company and has
spent virtually all its life in Wales.
Purchased
by the present vendor in 1979 in derelict condition, a photograph on file
records the vehicle as found. Restoration commenced in 1985 and was completed in
2002, with approximately 1,914 hours of work. The finished truck subsequently
completed the London to Brighton Run in 2002 and has taken part in further
rallies and road runs in Ireland in 2006 and 2007.
Powered by a 3,300cc Meadows four-cylinder petrol engine, the Guy
retains its distinctive Native American radiator mascot, introduced by Guy
Motors in the 1920s.
The truck has been
beautifully restored and presents extremely well, finished in pale green with
traditional signwriting for Brynmawr & Blaina Gas Company. The timber tipper
body, cab and mechanical components are all particularly well presented, while
the underside photographs show a clean and well-maintained
chassis.
Having remained with the same owner
since 1979, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a highly distinctive pre-war
Guy with an extensive restoration history and proven rally participation. The
vehicle runs and drives, as demonstrated in the accompanying photographs and
video.
A beautifully restored and exceptionally
charismatic vintage commercial, with genuine rarity and an unusually long period
of single ownership.
