This sale completes a record breaking year for our Plant & Machinery Department. Featuring a large selection of trailers and HGVs along with a good selection of other machinery. Despite the snow showers during the morning we saw a good trade going into the Christmas break with people seemingly keen to purchase all types of machinery.
The French Wine section ran to over 250 lots and featured a number of private collections from London, Shropshire, the Midlands and Edinburgh. The top price achieved in the section was for a rare case of Richebourg 1969 by Domaine Romanee Conti selling for £6,000. An 8 bottle lot of Chateau Haut Brion 1985 saw the hammer fall at £2,250.
The final Elite Sport Horse sale of this year took place at Addington Manor EC on Saturday 2nd December and produced the best average price to date, showing an increase of £4,300.
Brightwells rounded off their busiest year to date in fine style on a freezing cold November day with almost 80% of entries sold in their 12th and final Classic Vehicles sale of 2017 for a total of just over £1.2m.
Several major private wine and spirit collections will come under the hammer at Brightwells’ Leominster Saleroom on December 6th. The auction will commence at the new start time of 11am.
In an effort to respond to feedback from our clients, Brightwells has committed to a new venue for the Spring Sale of Welsh Ponies & Cobs.
Marty McCormack and Barney Mitchell won the 2017 Roger Albert Clark Rally (10-13 November) after four days, 270 stage miles and 29 special stages in the forests of Wales, Northumberland and Scotland.
Top price was achieved in the eclectic Asian section. An 18th Century 2 ¼ inch white jade pendant carved with the Doaist immortal Li Tieguai, was fiercely fought over by five telephone bidders, finally selling to an overseas collector for a pleasing £16,500.
Having refilled the yard following our previous sell-out sale, this month we demonstrated that the weather does not affect trade in the way it used to. With more buyers registered online than we have had in many months, we had a good day. Tractors and other agricultural equipment is becoming a larger part of our sale again with a good selection of both new and older machinery on offer. Big Plant and Commercial Vehicles also had large entries and good clearance rates.
The encouraging trade experienced at both Fayre Oaks and Autumn Cob sales continued at the later-than-normal ‘Hay’ Sale, now in its third year at the purpose-built Hereford Market.
