A great end to another great year. This month saw some huge results & a record breaking entry.
Eventing clients dominated the audience at the final Elite sport horse sale of this year. Sale topper, Lot 23 De Pleasure, a 3-year-old gelding by Diacontinus x For Pleasure, achieved a price of £34,000 and has found a new home with event rider Eliza Stoddart.
Brightwells Standardbreds Sweep the Board at the STAGBI & BHRC Annual Awards ....Brightwells Sale Horses had a very successful night at the recent BHRC & STAGBI joint awards evening.
Brightwells rounded off 2018 in fine style on 28th November by selling 75% of the 139 vehicles on offer for a total of £970,500, yet again it was an international affair, with numerous online and telephone bidders taking part.
An interesting catalogue of over 1000 lots, attracted a large crowd of enthusiastic purchasers, with trade in many areas, but particularly furniture, being stronger than seen for some time.
With our penultimate sale of the year completed, we smashed another massive total and achieved a great clearance rate for our vendors again. Our next sale will be just 11 days before Christmas on the 14th December & we are now taking entries. December is always a good sale with plenty of buyers in attendance. From an entry of 494 forward, 377 sold averaging £1,078 with a clearance rate of 77%.This is the highest sale average since 2007 when it was £1,194 and to top it all the sale record was broken in incredible style!
Horse & Hound report - The annual autumn cob sales held at The Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells saw a six-year-old Welsh section C be knocked down for a record breaking sale high of £45,000 on the final day of the auction.
Top of the bill was the 1930 Frazer-Nash, an ex-factory demonstrator with Brooklands history and continuous ownership since 1963. Selling for an estimate busting, commission inclusive £207,000.
A pre-Second World War bottle of Macallan Whisky sold for £10,500 at Brightwells’ recent auction of Rare Malt Whisky and Fine Cognac. The sale attracted worldwide interest, particularly from the Far-East; UK bidders from around the country were joined by online bidders from the US, Hong Kong, Japan and Scandinavia.
