1987 Opel Corsa 1.3 GT
Three door left hand
drive hot hatch; in need of some work underneath but otherwise very impressive
order inside; must be seen
In 2019, Opel very proudly displayed a
Corsa 1.3 GT on their stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Not because they were
trying to sell it and not because it had a brand new sparkly electric engine of
some sort. An unpretentious hot hatch may be an oxymoron but they paraded the
canary coloured car that was as boxy as a bar of soap to demonstrate a time when
‘automakers put their cars in tracksuits to advertise the might of their
engineering departments.’ Worth a read here: https://www.hagerty.com/media/news/1987-opel-corsa-gt-2019-frankfurt-motor-show/
This
particular left hand drive hatch was originally registered in France and has
subsequently been registered in Ireland. Now up for sale in the UK, it will of
course need a V5C to be applied for if driving it here. The Irish logbook is on
file so it should be straightforward to retrieve a NOVA reference number and
then the V5C.
There are only 66,000 kilometres showing, which one would
think is correct based on the overall condition. Except for the obvious
corrosion on the sills and underneath, the interior order of this car and the
majority of the body and engine bay are pretty impressive, and the photos
testify to that. Our advice is to scan thorough all the photos, register for the
auction and come and take a close look on one the view days.
